It's Okay
By Elijah Rafael F. Reolope
Sometimes I wonder as I look up the heaven.
We share the same world, same beauty and wonder.
But life is unfair, it's cruel and uneven.
You sleep in your beds, we sleep in the gutter
It's not my mistake, please do not blame me
I was born in this world with nothing beside me
You can take all the things this world can provide
But spare just a little, us too should live by.
Don't hate us, mock us, we are just unfortunate.
We do not have homes but we still have our worth
You're blessed with everything, we're blessed with hate.
But what else can we do, after all, it is too late.
I'm a child of this country, that's what I'm told
And children are lucky for what their future holds
Excited? Yes! I know what I'll do.
I'll lie down the gutter and dream of what you do.
I know it seems hard but do not worry
We get to live by, my brothers and sisters
We may be the children of the streets, but that's okay
What else can we do, this world is unfair.
Don't worry about us, we're just a disgrace
You can continue living great, winning life's race
We'll just stay here, this is where we belong
In the gutter beside your skyscrapers, we'll sleep here quite long.
I guess it's okay to say that life is just great
It's full of beauty, chances, love, and home
At least for you, you all deserve that.
We're just street children, we can't have homes
We're just street children's, we cannot have rights.
We can dream for it, want it, but we can't have it
We live in this country anyway
There's nothing here for us, at least not yet, right?
